The World’s Best Homemade Peanut Butter
The GRANNUS Team
If you have listened to one of our favorite podcasts, The Peanut Butter Wars, you know the answer to the question of how many peanuts peanut butter must contain to be called peanut butter. No worries when it comes to this version. This peanut butter is 100% peanuts and only takes 3 minutes to make. It has no added sugar, salt, or oils and is 100% delicious.
Ingredients
- 32oz dry roasted peanuts, lightly salted, and shelled (this will make ~24oz of peanut butter)
Tools
- Food processor
- Rubber spatula
- Mason jars
- Nonreactive lids
Directions:
- Add peanuts to the food processor, seal the lid, and turn on
- Immediately you will have chopped nuts
- At 30 seconds, you will have a mixture that resembles wet sand
- The wet sand will begin to clump; at 1 minute 30 seconds, it will briefly form a ball. This stage may make your food processor jump around for a few seconds, so just hold on.
- The ball will then begin to break down into a rope/wave motion and will begin to smooth.
- At roughly 3 minutes, it will stop the wave motion, be at a consistent height, and look somewhat like a rope. Once it reaches this point, stop. Further grinding it will just make it runny.
- Ta-da, you have made homemade peanut butter! That’s all it takes.
- Store in a mason jar at room temperature.
