Strength and Sexuality

Have you ever wondered if being able to open a new jar of pickles barehanded or carrying all the groceries inside in one trip is worth anything? A recent Washington State University Study suggests it just might make you sexier. Not the pickle jar or the groceries specifically (though getting them all in one trip is indescribably satisfying), but the strength it takes for these modern-day displays of hunting and gathering.

The study suggests that individuals with stronger upper bodies—whether male or female—are likely to be more sexually active, be engaged in longer term relationships, and have higher overall levels of sexual satisfaction than those who haven’t developed to the same strength. This had been shown in prior studies involving men, but the WSU study was the first of its kind to show the same for women.

Researchers now need to focus on the why, but these findings suggest that staying strong and fit is better for more than just the heart and mind.
